Energy Code Development

Energy Code Development

International Energy Conservation Consultants collaborates with the following groups to develop comprehensive code change proposals:

  • State Energy Offices
  • Regional Energy Efficiency Organizations
  • Non-profit advocates
  • U.S. Department of Energy
  • Industry leaders

These code changes improve the utility of ICC International, NFPA National, and ASHRAE codes and standards. At IECC, our team strives for code development that achieves cost-effective, energy efficient upgrades to current code standards

Events are designed by the Illinois Office of Energy & Recycling for the Illinois construction industry. They aim to improve compliance with IECC and ASHRAE 90.1- 2013. This provides a great opportunity for homebuilders, designers, code officials, HVAC, and home performance contractors. These individuals are able to enjoy a meal and network with other professionals. In addition, they also learn the “need-to-know” in a quick download of the IECC for Illinois construction, addition, and renovation projects in Illinois. These seminars provide the basis for the correct use of IECC and Standard 90.1-2013 in the design, construction, plan review, field-inspection, and performance analysis of buildings statewide.

Energy code development and appliance efficiency standards are likely to capture significant energy efficiency savings over the coming years. In particular when efficiency gains by energy codes are tied to utility and atmospheric carbon (CO2) savings. As a result, this has IECC, LLC directing its attention toward the very real implications of connecting existing utility energy efficiency program design and utility involvement to codes and standards compliance, savings and deferred emissions assessment.
